A centrifugal pump is one of the two types of dynamic vane pumps, in which the movement of the working fluid occurs in a continuous flow due to the interaction between this flow and the rotating impeller blades of the rotor and the stationary blades of the casing. The transfer of the working fluid is achieved by centrifugal force and occurs in a radial direction, i.e., perpendicular to the axis of the rotor's rotation. These pumps are equally suitable for both liquids and gases; however, when used for gases, they are typically referred to as centrifugal compressors or centrifugal fans.

Inside the pump casing, which usually has a snail-shaped spiral design, a impeller is rigidly mounted on a shaft. Bearings are located at both ends of the shaft, and depending on the pump type, these bearings may vary. The bearings are secured to the pump body with special retainers and ensure the rotation of the impeller.

Vortex pumps are known for their compactness and affordability. They are ideal for supplying clean water from reservoirs, such as for garden irrigation. The impeller is equipped with special radial blades. During operation, the liquid enters between the blades and begins to rotate, forming small vortex flows, which at the outlet result in a strong water jet.
